The Creation

I n the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was formless and empty, and there was darkness over the ocean. And God’s spirit moved over the waters.

And God said, “Let there be light”, and there was light. And God saw that the light he had made was good. This was the first day.

On the second day, God created the sky, and divided the water in the sky from the waters below.

On the third day, God gathered the waters together into seas, so that there was dry land. And on the land God made grass grow, and fruit trees, and plants of all kinds.

On the fourth day, God made the sun, and the moon, and the stars in the sky, to give light to the earth.

On the fifth day, God made all the creatures that live in the sea, and all the birds that fly in the air.

On the sixth day, God made all the animals that live on land. And God made people who looked like him, a man and a woman. He told them to have many children, and to use all the plants and animals God had made for them.

On the seventh day, God was finished with His work, and God rested.
